The Ordnance Factory Board, established in 1979, was among the most trusted defence manufacturing organisations. In a landmark reform, the Government of India dissolved the OFB and reorganised its factories into seven specialised DPSUs in October 2021, with the objective of enhancing operational efficiency, accountability, and competitiveness.
